Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS
- What it means
- What usually happens next
With Visa Case Status, this explanation arrives with the alert.
Free USCIS case tracker · every form
We watch your USCIS case day and night. The moment it moves, your phone lights up, with what the new status means and the weeks a decision is most likely.
01How it works
Day 1
Give it a nickname like "My work permit." We read the office and the fiscal year from the number itself, and start watching right away.
Day 47
Which filing dates USCIS is deciding for cases like yours, how many weeks of filings are ahead of you, and the week a decision is most likely.
Day 72, 2:14 PM
We check every case several times a day, weekends included. The alert says what changed in plain words. It shows your nickname, never your receipt number.
Day 72, 2:15 PM
Every status is explained in plain English, with your full timeline. No more guessing what "Actively Reviewed" means.
02The line
USCIS decides most cases roughly in the order they were filed. Each bar is one week of filings for one form at one office. Watch USCIS work through them, and see the day it reaches yours.
03Every status, explained
USCIS uses dozens of status titles. Each one fits into four steps. Pick yours, or paste it straight from the USCIS website.

Yes. Tracking, alerts and estimates are free, with no paid tier and no trial. We'll show ads one day, but never on pages with your case.
No. Visa Case Status is independent and not affiliated with USCIS or any government agency. We read the same case status USCIS publishes, just more often than you can.
Several times a day, every day, weekends included. When the status changes, you get the alert within hours, usually sooner.
The first three letters name the office that took your case, like EAC for the Vermont Service Center or IOE for USCIS's online system. For most offices the next two digits are the fiscal year, which starts on October 1. The rest identifies your case.
From the cases people track with us. We group similar cases by form, office and filing week, and see which of them got decisions recently. Every estimate shows how many cases it's based on and how often our past ranges were right.
Those applications are tracked by the State Department, not USCIS. Check them on ceac.state.gov.
